Over the next few weeks the final bits of work will be completed on the St Andrew’s Makeover Project. This work has been in progress for well over 10 years and is now coming to fruition. To celebrate we’ll be having a grand re-opening day on Sunday 29th October and all of you are invited!
At 10am there’s a re-opening service. Our guest preacher is Bishop Graham Kings. He was formerly Bishop of Sherbourne and is now an Assistant Bishop locally. While he was training to be a priest some 45 years ago he was attached to St Andrew’s and preached one of his first sermons here. Now he’s back to celebrate our building work. We’ll also be joined by our friends at Madingley Church for a lively celebration!
From 2-4pm that day the church will be serving tea, coffee and cake to whoever wants to look around and see what we’ve done. All are welcome to pop in!
Then, at 6pm, we’ll have a Songs of Praise service, singing some well-loved hymns to give thanks for all that has happened. The Revd Dr Mandy Maxwell, the previous Rector who started this work, will be coming back to preach.
Part of the vision of the Makeover is to create some more space at the back of the church of hospitality and other social events. Our first concert in the newly-reordered building will be An Evening of Christmas Jazz with the Tim Boniface Quartet on Saturday 9th December. Please come along to enjoy the music and get into the Christmas spirit.
