 BAPTISM

St. Andrew’s operates an open baptism policy. Baptisms are arranged with the Rector. However, if you do not live in Girton permission must be sought from the priest in your home parish. Generally it is better to have a baptism in the church where you live because you will be able to make links with that church and attend some of its services.

MARRIAGES

Marriages are arranged in consultation with the Rector. If you are not resident in Girton, and if you do not have a qualifying connection to the parish, there is a requirement to go onto our electoral roll for 6 months prior to the date of the wedding and to attend church services at least twice a month during that period.

BURIALS

To qualify for burial in the churchyard the deceased must have been a resident of Girton or a church member of St. Andrew’s. Our current policy is not to reserve grave space on request.

MEMORIALS

Please note that we discourage artificial flowers and grave ornaments in the churchyard as we are required to conform to regulations governing churchyards in the Ely Diocese. We also want to retain a natural, organic feel to the surroundings.  A churchyard is different in character and ethos to a civic cemetery.

 ADULT BAPTISM

Whenever it happens, whether as a baby, child or adult, baptism is at the heart of an amazing journey of faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. You are never too old to take this step, and being baptized as an adult is a wonderful experience.

CONFIRMATION

Congratulations on wanting to explore confirmation with the Church of England. Confirmation can be an important part of a lifetime journey of faith as a follower of Jesus Christ. Your journey starts here in Girton and then takes you into the wider Church.
